The Canby School District has agreed to end the fireworks displays at high school football games this year. Or, maybe they haven't. We're not entirely sure. Karen and Brent Brelje, of Neurotherapeutic Pediatric Therapies Inc. (we're just gonna call it "Neuro") tell us about the time their daughter with special needs changed the course of their lives by saying three simple words. Daniel Godfrey, of Caldera International, shares his exciting plans for the old Parsons building (sushi, anyone??). And on Canby Then, we read old newspaper articles that say creepy things about teenage girls.

The city has asked the school district to forego fireworks at high school football games this season, plus, a new winery and tasting facility could be coming to Butteville Road. A record-breaking 710 (!!!) cars and other vehicles showed up for Saturday's 25th Anniversary Cutsforth's Cruise-In, and we hear about just a few of them, including the world's oldest school bus, a 215-mph speedster, a WWII Jeep and a (possibly) haunted hearse.

The Parsons building has a new owner (welcome to Canby, Caldera International!), as does the Blue Heron paper mill at Willamette Falls. Nicholas Gitts and Heather Schloe, of Swan Island Dahlias, tell us the stories behind their flowers' wacky — and sometimes, poignant — names. Several local LGBTQ groups are inviting the community to a Diversity Night Out event this Saturday.
Also on tap: a Repair Fair at Canby Public Library. Stacy Luddington returns to tell us all about it. Finally, Canby Then tells the story of the impromptu rodeo that broke out on Highway 99E in 1947.

In this episode, we're live from the Clackamas County Fair! Join us as we terrify a guinea pig, meet the cutest puppy in Clackamas County right now (we're pretty sure), take a photo with Bigfoot, discuss nudity with the Rodeo Court (just blame J.J.) and sample the way-way-way-better-tasting-than-it-sounds Sour Cream & Raisin Pie.

In today's episode, we take a quick stroll down Highway 99E as we chat with Aurora Mayor Kris Taylor Sallee about this weekend's celebration of Aurora Colony Days, as well as what binds these two neighboring communities together. We also catch up with Havvy Ehrich, the Canby teen who won a gold medal and several other awards at this summer's International Powerlifting Championships in Helsingborg, Sweden. She'll tell us what about this amazing performance was somehow disappointing to her.

In 1980, a fluke brought soon-to-be college graduate Tony Crawford to Canby for his student teaching assignment. It was a town he had never once set foot in before. But for 35 years, he dedicated himself to teaching a generation of Canby students.
To many, he's best-known for the many important and powerful guests he helped welcome to the Canby School District over the years, from First Lady Nancy Reagan to the Dalai Lama. In today's episode, we look back over Tony's remarkable career and discuss his next adventure, which will take him far, far from Canby.

You ever think, "Man, I loved it when Canby Community Theatre did (BLANK)! Wish they would do that one again"? Well, in this summer's very special 25th anniversary show, you get your wish, as the local theater troupe looks with all your favorite song and dance numbers from a quarter-century of top-quality productions. In today's episode, we hear from the cast and crew and give you a taste of what this musical extravaganza is like!
The only problem with the show is it doesn't have a name! Near the end of today's interview, Randy Hamilton suggested that we come up with one. We're pretty sure he was just joking, but you have to be real careful what you say to us, because we went and did it anyway! Click over to our Facebook page to see our design concept for Canby Community Theatre Presents: A Show to Remember.

We didn't scare her away! Today's episode features a return guest, as Joyce Ares of the Friends of the Canby Public Library comes back on the program to tell us about The Great Backyard and Patio Tour, which happens this Saturday. Like most of the benefits the Friends put on, the event is a fundraiser for the popular library programming that happens throughout the year.
So, if you ever find yourself the victim of one of her "shakedowns," remember: It's all for the kids.
